[x] new Tweets bar in Twitter

Slightly off topic but as Twitter is Ruby I couldn’t think of a better
forum.

Can someone tell me how the new Tweets bar in Twitter works? Does
Twitter just leave an open Connection to your IP address and do it using
Push?
