Why DARCS, instead of Subversion or other?

I’m a subversion user, and this DARCS system seems interesting. My only
worry is that some have said that it scales badly, and I’m scared to
switch to something that will cause problems later on.

Is there any chance of posting some insight on DARCS in general, or why
it was used for RForum?
