Using GNU radio with microcontroller based designs

Hi,

I am trying to design a FM radio with a msp430 microcontroller from TI
as part of a project. I came across GNUradio while working on this and
seems to be a brilliant concept. I am wondering if it can be somehow
used with the msp430 to demodulate the audio signals and use them as
desired. My concern is that is GNU Radio hardware intensive ie will it
work only with big processors/DSPs and FPGAs like USRP (from Ettus
Reasearch)? Or can I use, if not the entire code but, then small parts
of it for FM demodulation purposes? I am totally new to open source so I
am not able to figure it out.

Thanks,
Gaurav
