Total novice regarding nginx

Server NGINX

I am a total novice and know little of servers and nothing of nginx,
having said that I have downloaded nginx in ubuntu 8.04 and got to
Welcome to nginx on the laptop screen and the folder is in /var/www/.
Unless someone can please tell me what I do next such as how do I upload
my website to nginx or just what is next I can go no further.

copy your web to /var/www ?

other than standard stuff (permission, etc), none.
