Stop thin webserver

Hi,
How to stop thin server
i have tried the following command but it is giving error

$>thin stop

Error:Can’t stop process, no PID found in tmp/pids/thin.pid

plz reply

I find that I have to specify the servers if I’ve started more than
one i.e. thin stop --servers 3
