Status of more usable blog entry?

In looking at http://wiki.radiantcms.org/Thirdparty_Extensions
I see two wysiwyg extensions. The one for fckeditor says it isn’t
done yet, and the one for tinymce returns a 503 for the links.

So that means there isn’t anything at all?

I want users to be able to specify:
Title
Keywords
Image (simple upload of a single image file, that will get auto
resize)
Content (defaulting to wysiwyg, this excludes the content)
Date

I suppose I could do this with “parts”, but there doesn’t seem to
be a way to say what the parts are, let alone dictate what the
data type is (such as file upload for Image).

There is an extension/fork of Radiant called “admin_parts” that may be
of use to you. I also have one that I have yet to open-source that
lets you constrict the names and filters of parts available to the
page.

What about the rest of my desires of having WYSIWYG (is there
a working extension right now?), and of managing keywords
(I can’t use the word “tag” in this context i guess), so that
later I can do a query for all entries using a particular keyword.

Thanks…

I got the FCKeditor working in Radiant very quickly, although it may not
fit for all use-cases. There have also been efforts to use TinyMCE and
a Textile-helper toolbar. However, these will not likely ever be part
of the core software.

Tags/keywords should be a simple thing to do, in fact I may need to do
it for my current project. I will keep you informed.

I’ve got a somewhat working tag cloud extension (beta) that I’ve been
meaning to post for a number of weeks now but client distractions and
hosting issues have delayed me in making them public. If anyone has a
dying need to try them and doesn’t mind being a guinea pig drop me a
line personally and I’ll package it up and email it to you in the
interim.

Next of the list is to try and find a way to wrap Radiant with an
extension that gives it a Wordpress/MoveableType/Blogger XML-RPC API
to interface with so you can use a client such as Ecto or ScribeFire
to post.

While it’s not the most ideal system for running a traditional blog,
it’s the most extensible and usable of the other ruby based ones I’ve
tried… and that extensibility just means you have to add whatever
it is missing for you personally.

Glenn
