Something went wrong

I get this error:

We’re sorry, but something went wrong.
We’ve been notified about this issue and we’ll take a look at it
shortly.

…often and I keep refreshing then it starts working…sometimes when I
refresh it shows an error like “User can’t be referred”.

what could be wrong?

I am not sure what. This problem is embarrassing me whenever I present a
demo to my colleagues

this seems like a pretty important piece to the puzzle:

is your mysql server local?

is your mysql server local?
Yes!

For me this meant ‘you don’t have openssl installed on your mingw
build, so activemerchant fails since it can’t find it (credit card
processing errs)’

looks like mysql-server timeout to me. Mysql closes the connection
after 12hour if there is no traffic on the connection. You need to
make sure that something calls a page every 6h or so. afaik there is
no solution within rails so far.

for development just make sure to restart the application right before
you show it to someone (mongrel_rails restart)
