Software & Hardware Requirements for CentOS

Can anybody list the Software and Hardware Requirements for CentOS to
use Ruby On Rails?

The hardware requirements for CentOS are the same as the equivalent Red
Hat Enterprise Linux. Do a Google search for Red Hat Hardware
Compatibility and you should get the list.

As far as software is concerned, CentOS 5 does have Ruby available, as
well as Apache, MySQL, etc. I think it may even have Rails built
available in the standard repository. However, the versions of the
packages involved were stable as of about a year ago, so you may find
some features of “today’s” Rails missing. You’ll have security and bug
fix updates since then, but few new features.

I’ve worked with CentOS 5 – it’s a nice platform. Because it’s as
compatible as you can legally be with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, you
can find all the documentation on the Red Hat site.
