Is anyone aware of any open-source code that has the base already built
for a social networking site? i.e. with messaging, friends lists etc…

phpizabi.net is a php myspace clone and is pretty popular, you might
want to give it a try.

I will definitely check out the rails grabthemic sometime soon!
