just put ‘shoes_gst’ up on github - a flavor of Shoes which uses
gstreamer for audio and video support:

to install on my system (ubuntu 10.04) i just downloaded the .tar.gz,
extracted it in my home directory, and ran ‘rake’ from within the newly
created directory. (i renamed the directory before running rake as
well, to make getting to shoes_gst from a command line easier!)
not sure how it would work on OSX, but this might help:
