Searching

I’ve been searching for a way to implement a search feature across
articles posted in a table. All the google results I get refer to
“live”
search and I’m not interested an automcomplete function, but because of
the prevalence of tutorials on the subject, I can’t seem to find what I
want.

I have implemented a search in PHP before where I had MySQL perform an
indexing on a couple tables and then I could perform a sort ranked by
relevence.

Is there any advice you all could give me on the topic? I’m really at a
loss here. :frowning: I hope that the list is somewhat active even though it’s
a
US holiday today.

Thanks,
David

don’t forget about necessary utf-8 issues if you need that:

If you’re not adverse to switching to PostgreSQL, I’ve had great
success with the tsearch2 module for PostgreSQL.
