SciRuby Summer of Code

SciRuby is a project that aims to bring scientific computation to Ruby.
We’re working on various libraries for that.

If you’re a student and want to work on numerical applications,
visualization of data or other kinds of scientific applications, please
take a look at:

There’s already much discussion on libraries like NMatrix and D3
visualization on our mailing list:

very nice. would it be possible to get a high performant database
backed
kd-tree? please?

At the moment we’re concentrating on numerical linear algebra (including
sparse matrices, which are already working) and visualization. I wish to
build a library similar to Pandas (from Python) based on NMatrix, but
few
students seem interested in the idea.

If you want to suggest something, just send to our mailing list!

And if you guys know students that may be interested in it, please show
them the GSoC page from the Ruby Science Foundation:
