Save without calling the after_create

I have an observer class called AttendanceObserver which sends an
email everytime a record is inserted into the Attendance table. But
there are several other actions when I also save into that table but I
don’t want to send an e-mail. Does anybody knows is there a way to do
this and maybe specify a save into an attendance table without calling
the after_create method below? Thanks,
