Well . . . a lot of big Ruby projects use Git . . .

. . . but I prefer Mercurial. I think Rubyists get to make up their own
minds about these things, and even if people use Git, they join this
list to talk about Ruby rather than about Git (or Mercurial or
Subversion, or whatever).

…the Git books on Amazon go way back to 2010 and 2009 and the Git U.
Manual is about 100 pages…
…i was just trying to set up a Git Rails project using the AWDWR book
and
was blocked by the .gitconfig file…
…i got a partial answer from this Ruby site and can continue with the
book…

…i will read the Git U. Manual next week…

…i didn’t mean to start a ‘flaming war’…

No need to apologize all the time. :slight_smile:

It’s a good idea to head over to github, anyway, if you plan to work
with Rails a lot. A lot of tooling centers around Git and silently
assumes that you either know Git, or have it at least installed
(that’s why AWDWR mentions Git: It’s used to pull plugins). And, of
course, Rails is hosted on github.
