Ruboto on Coby Kyros Android 2.1 tablet

I just got a cheap Android 2.1 tablet (a Coby Kyros). I tried
installing all the releases of Ruboto-IRB I could find, but none of
them worked – I get the message “The application Ruboto IRB (process
org.ruboto.irb) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.” Anyone
have pointers on getting it working? I’m holding off on rooting this
device or upgrading its OS, but I will do so if necessary.

From the descriptions of the packages on GitHub, it looks like at
least 0.3 and 0.3.1 should be able to run on a 2.x OS, but even those
fail to run.

From the logs, it appears that Ruboto tries to launch a file called
/sdcard/jruby/call.rb. I don’t currently have an SD card, so that
would be a problem. If I had had an SD card when I installed
Ruboto-IRB, would it have automatically installed call.rb on it?

Yes, I think the missing sdcard is the problem. You should try posting

I got an SD card, and it did fix it.
