Replacement for webdriver-user-agent (use with watir-webdriver)

I notice that the gem pointed to in the watir documentation that
discusses mobile and responsive testing, “webdriver-user-agent” has
been deprecated. Is there a preferred replacement, or another way of
doing automated testing of responsive design with watir?

Per the announcement
(Home - Watir-Melon)
the author suggests that you roll your own. The gem has been deprecated
due to a lack of time for maintenance/upkeep, not due to any specific
issue or replacement.

Which doesn’t actually address the question I asked. I wasn’t
wondering why that one was deprecated.
