Reg: Help in using GNU Radio software

Hi all,
I am sai shiva kailaswar, doing my Master’s thesis using GNU Radio. As I
am
new to GNU Radio, I need some basic information. I presently use Windows
7.
I want to install ubuntu in my laptop. Which versions of Ubuntu and GNU
radio are good for using GNU Radio. Is Ubuntu 11.04 is good for GNU
Radio.

Any Help is Appreciated.

Thanks & Regards
SAI SHIVA KAILASWAR

Any recent version of ubuntu and fedora should be easy. Marcus made a
script to make the process even easier:

I made some windows installers if you are interested:

Hi Shiva,
You can have any version of Ubuntu from 8.10 onwards. But I prefer 10.04
LTS.
After installing Ubuntu just run the following script and everything
will be
done .i.e
installing of UHD as well as GnuRadio.

after installing UHD and GnuRadio you may need GnuRadio companion which
creates a drag and drop type environment.
For that you can do sudo apt-get install gnuradio-companion.

Hi Josh,
thanks for your reply. To run the script, we need the copy the script
content in the terminal. is it right??

For that you can do sudo apt-get install gnuradio-companion.
The build-gnuradio script installs gnuradio-companion. No need to
install it from apt-get, and doing so may very well interfere with
the source-based install that build-gnuradio just did.

Hi sumit,
Thanks for ur reply.
I am thinking of installing ubuntu 11.04. Will their be any major
problems using GNU radio in 11.04 when compared with 10.04?
If ubuntu 10.04 is more preferable, then I would install 10.04.

HI sumit,
My system has windows 7 64-bit. As you preferred me to install ubuntu
10.04 LTS, which one is better 32-bit or 64-bit version??
