I tried that clean and then remaking, and nothing changed. Any other
suggestions?

Uninstall the binary UHD that you installed and build UHD and GNU Radio
from scratch using ‘./pybombs install uhd gnuradio’:
http://gnuradio.org/redmine/projects/pybombs/wiki
The error is possibly being caused by a UHD version mismatch.
