Rails errors and background processes

I have a rails application running as a background process using
plugin spawn. It works fine, but I do not get any error messages if
something goes wrong
Anyone knows how to cath error mssages in a background process?

Any help would be very much appreciated

I like to log many steps of the background process procedure to see
where it
fails. You can see log entries with this patch:
