Is there a way to make nginx handle all the SSL/STARTTLS and proxy the
traffic to SSL-unaware SMTP server? How do I tell nginx not to use SSL
when talking
to other server, even if e-mail client does use SSL when communicating
with the nginx?
Is it possible at all and if not, would it be hard feature to
implement?

Interesting question. I was just fighting with postfix to make it digest
TLS. If Nginx can do that it would make the whole configuration much
easier.
