Proofread Ruby sections of thesis?

#1

Hi everyone,

I’m writing my Masters thesis on object-oriented
programming language features. It’s a survey of seven different
languages: Smalltalk, Eiffel, Objective-C, C++, Java, Python, and
Ruby. I’m trying to get a reviewer for each language, just to make
sure I haven’t misrepresented them in any way. I have written code in
each of them, but obviously I haven’t become an expert in all of them.

Would one of you be willing to proofread the Ruby sections of my
thesis? You wouldn’t need to be nitpicky, just make sure I haven’t
misrepresented or left out anything. It would probably only take you
an hour or two. I would send it to you this evening, and I would need
your comments by Wednesday night. (Yes, I know, I’m cutting things a
little short.) You would receive a mention in the acknowledgments.

I look forward to hearing from some of you.

Thanks,
Ben Pharr

Is it not possible for you to post them in a public place so many
eyes might validate the content?

JEGII +1

That does seem like the ruby way to proofread a thesis.

Then you could acknowledge the community, too.

That would be ideal if I weren’t already running way behind. I’m
afraid if I posted it to the list I’d get a deluge of mail. Remember,
I’ve got seven languages to worry about. I had hoped to have it
finished earlier, so I could get input from a wider range of people,
but you know how that goes. I’ll definitely post a link to the list
once I have defended it. Even then I’ll be happy to take suggestions,
as I think it has the potential to be a good resource for all
object-oriented developers.

Let me know if you’d like to be a reviewer. Two or three Ruby guys
would be great.

Thanks,
Ben
