Page filter not overridable by children?

I have had an install of Radiant setup for about a month now and nightly
grab the latest from subversion. Tonight, for the first time I decided
to
past in some content that uses Textile. I’ve selected Textile as the
filter
for the page but when I render it, none of the Textile formatting is
being
applied unless I set the parent page to use the Textile filter.

Is this on purpose or by accident? I expected the child pages to render
their contents based on the filter they are applied.

Thanks.

Wild. Do tests run?
