Page admin treeview with large number of pages

Does anyone have experience with a Radiant installation containing
thousands (or even many hundreds) of pages? Before I jump in with both
feet, I’m wondering if the tree for administering pages becomes a
navigation problem with a large number of entries.

My own experience has been that a breadcrumb navigation system is much
more manageable as the number of pages increases beyond a hundred or
so. My first application of Radiant is likely to be be for a blog.

I’ve some sites setup with radiants, and albeit not as large as you
mention, I can see how it could be a pain managing hundreds of rows
with the current admin interface. I too think a breadcrumb management
interface could double the existing one, and make more “direct” the
access to large sections (islands) of pages.

In my experience, re-parenting and moving around pages and snippets,
and especially copying/cloning pages/snippets also may be an issue.

For the time being you can export the site content, modify it with an
editor, and then re-import it. This could be useful to duplicate large
sections of the site or other page maintenance tasks.

And making that page admin more flexible for that could lead to
subpages being used for…comments.

  • Breadcrumb page management
  • “post comment” behavior that receives the action of the commentable
    page’s form and creates a new subpage for that comment.

    — etc.
