OT: Versioning

I’m relatively new and had a question about files I’ve downloaded via
svn

I use RadRails
When I look at the file , say new.rhtml , it has the date and someone’s
name following the file name.
e.g. new.rhtml 2322 9/12/06 3:00AM john

how are those things added , is that svn annotation ?
They are not part of the file name as I can’t see those things in the
file
manager.

There’s an invisible folder inside every working copy folder called .svn
All of the information about versions is stored in here.
