Open-uri only ascii when opening utf-8 encoded site

When trying to open a page that is utf-8 encoded with open-uri it gives
me a result encoded in ascii.

This of course means that alot of characters are wrong (for example
“é”)…

I tried to to change the encoding but to no avail…
