Next Dev Call will use G+ Hangout (May 16)

Hi everyone,

anyone who’s ever joined a GNU Radio developer’s call knows we aren’t
100% happy about the SIP technology we’re currently using. We’d like
something that is easy to join and just works across the world.

For this reason, we will be trying a Google Hangout next time. If you
want to join, you have to be a member of the new GNU Radio G+ group, I
believe you can find the group at:
https://plus.google.com/communities/105194615257651755927

(It’s public).

To join a hangout, you need to:

  1. Have a G+ account
  2. Install a plugin: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/hangoutplugin

We’re not after your information. You can sign up with a throwaway
account and use a name from Monty Python, as far as we’re concerned.

Also, we’re not planning to do a video conference. Audio-only, but we
like the fact we can share screens if required.

We believe this is much easier than installing and configuring a SIP
client for your device, and we’ve tried out the hangout before and know
it works quite well.

Remember, this is only a test run. If it doesn’t work as expected, or
there are other legitimate reasons why we can’t do this, we will try
other technologies or go back to our SIP call.

Hear you in a month,
MB
