Skills:
Taking direction from the Senior System Architect / Engineer is
responsible for the installation, set-up, configuration, administration,
troubleshooting, tuning and back-up Red Hat OS on various hardware
servers. Provides business day and emergency (remote) support.
The Systems Engineer will be knowledgeable of Linux-based open source
product and have solid troubleshooting skills. The Systems Engineer
should be able to resolve almost all daily technical issues. The Systems
Engineer requires minimal supervision and direction and can provide
direction and mentoring to the Systems Administrators. Ensure
standardization of hardware and software configurations for servers and
workstations. Perform contingency planning, including disaster recovery
and redundancy.
A Systems Engineer possesses between 3 - 5 years of direct experience in
some of the following areas: build, installation, configuration,
monitoring, support and troubleshooting of the enterprise Linux
platform. Responsible for implementations, system upgrades, and advanced
technical support activities.
3 - 5 years enterprise linux experience with Red Hat Linux or SuSe
Linux.
3 - 5 years intermediate level experience shell scripting in bash, korn,
or cshell Beginner to intermediate experience scripting in Ruby.
1 - 3 years experience scripting in Perl, or tcl.
Knowledge of HP hardware a plus. In particular installing Red Hat Linux
on HP severs.
Enterprise Level administrative control of a min 25 Linux server
systems.
Expertise at installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Oracle
products running on Linux, such as Oracle 10g, OID, oblix, OVD etc
