(I’ve been wanting to announce this for a while, but only got around
to it now…)

nanoc ( is a Ruby CMS that
doesn’t run on a server, but rather on a local machine. It “compiles”
local source files (HTML, Markdown, eRuby, …) into static output
ready for uploading to any web host.

Advantages of nanoc include being able to preview the entire site
before uploading it, speed (server simply serves static files),
security (no server-side code to exploit) and version control (ability
to put the entire site in a subversion repository).

Install nanoc using rubygems: “gem install nanoc”, and read the
