MySQL won't start in Instant Rails

I feel a little silly because what could be easier than installing
Instant Rails, right? Following the tutorial no less.

Nonetheless, when I launch InstantRails, I don’t see the MySQL server
starting. I try to right click and start it in the control panel, and
it briefly looks like it’s going to turn on (by moving to the yellow
light) and then turns itself right back off again.

I don’t see anything in any error log and am not sure how to follow up
troubleshooting. I wasn’t sure if my existing MySQL installation was
causing a problem so I just uninstalled it. No improvement.

Troubleshooting steps?

Thanks,
Daniel

I’ve seen other people in forums with this problem so I thought I’d just
mention what the main problem was. I had a space character in my
install path, so when I ran the initial configuration script, it didn’t
write the right paths to installation files. Problem solved. Make sure
the path to instant rails doesn’t have a space.
