Missing messages

I’ve been missing a lot of messages in my Gmail the past few days that
I see posted on ruby-forum. I notified [email protected]
yesterday, but haven’t heard back.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Is it Gmail, or ruby-talk, or the relay, or something else?

Is there someone else I should ask about getting it fixed?

YUP! I’m seeing a drastic reduction in posts, but honestly, I’ve kind of
enjoyed it.

I have seen quite a few threads where at least the initial posting was
missing (easily visible because the subject in the overview starts
with “Re:”). I didn’t bother to check in more detail yet but there
are quite of few of these “headless” threads.

Kind regards

robert

I have similar issues as Robert.

Is any progress being made? Does anyone have an idea of how long it
will take before the two mediums reflect each other’s contents (if
ever)?

Hi, Eric.

Thank you for letting me know.
And sorry for the mess, my “Re:” posts are ugly.

This problem was explained by eban’s diary.(written in Japanese)

But, I can’t translate with accuracy.

In my understanding below.

Ruby-Talk has been strict,
because to be against spam of recent.
Who Administrates this list and how can the community help save this list from the noise - Ruby - Ruby-Forum

The cause is a gap of registered email addresses, between ruby-talk
and ruby-forum.

Now, we are hoping solution by the ruby-forum side.

I haven’t seen anything suggesting that someone has contacted the
maintainer of ruby-forum… Maybe they have but most of the blame here
seems to be pointed towards the ruby-talk@ admins. The problem is on the
forum side and there is little that the ruby-talk@ admins can do about
it.

What ruby-forum will probably have to do is either:

  1. mail to the mailing list as a register ruby-forum user

or

  1. start registering ruby-forum users before the mail gets sent to
ruby-talk@ as the user. You can sign up for the list and turn off mail
delivery so this wouldn’t cause annoying duplicates to the poster.

Hello,
I’m only using Ruby Forum and didn’t subscribe to the mailing list
(always prefer forums over mailing lists - my bad…). I use it since
several month and posted only once or two on a month.
since a few days when I post a reply on Ruby Forum, I receive a mail
telling me that I’m not part of the mailing list (didn’t remember the
terms, and not at home now). so seems that there is also some changes on
the way the Forum is managed. don’t know yet if I can continue using it
like I was…

This is what’s being done from now on. Everything seems to be working
fine. I apologize for the inconveniences.
