Ive only been coding for a year or so and its been a jumbled mess jumping between languages. Ruby has stuck pretty well so I decided my first project would be a card battling game (My love of card games bleeds through) and I have a pretty good CLI game written up and i would love to make it 2D with gosu. If anyone has anything they can say to help I would be greatful. Will post code if i get some people wanting to help a brother out. I don’t even know if this is a good place to put this post, thanks in advance!

I don’t know much about Gosu, but I have built a number of games in Glimmer (Glimmer DSL for LibUI or Glimmer DSL for SWT):

Glimmer gems are good for building board games and very simple 2D games. Beyond that, DragonRuby, Ruby2D, or Gosu can help, but I don’t have that much experience with them to help you with them.
To figure out how to get started with Glimmer, check the samples included in Glimmer DSL for LibUI (running in standard Ruby):
Or Glimmer DSL for SWT (runs in JRuby):
