Large file storage

I need to have an app which allows large >200mb files to be uploaded.
I don’t want to use ftp for security reasons.
I have tried boxroom, but it chokes on moderate size files (may be a
mongrel problem).
Has anybody created or has an idea about creating a little app which
supports this? Preferably with upload status.

You could use merb as it was made for file uploading. It’s another
framework
built on Ruby.
