JRuby and -XstartOnFirstThread on carbon

JRuby fails to start, without any errors on the console, when -
XstartOnFirstThread or (-J-XstartOnFirstThread) is used as a jvm
option on carbon.

This has already been asked here
(http://www.nabble.com/Problem-using-JRuby-on-Leopard-tf4732068.html#a13530944
) but I could not find any conclusive answer to my problem.

I’m using the simplest of SWT snippets here
(http://www.eclipsezone.com/eclipse/forums/t84222.html
)

A reference
(http://lists.apple.com/archives/Java-dev/2004/Oct/msg00713.html
) on the above thread mentions that it’s currently not possible to
have AWT and SWT loops running in the same application, but that’s not
my case either.

Is there any workaround for this problem ?
