My New York City client is looking for an experienced Ruby on Rails
Developer to join a product development team which is creating the
discovery engine for culture - a social, personalized guide for local
events and experience. The right candidate loves continuous
deployment, building robust systems which know how to scale, and
solving problems other people cant. This position is part of a small,
growing team of developers, front-end devs, and UI/designers, and
although management experience is a plus, writing smart, efficient,
test-driven code which doesn’t suck is most important. This role is
for someone who is comfortable moving throughout the whole technology
stack, but the right person has several years of experience in the
back-end and builds data models on lunch breaks. The team is starting
from scratch, building in Rails 3.1 and using MongoDB. They are
creating a completely new user-experience, integrating web services
such as Facebook, and developing a scalable, collaborative CMS.
Minimum requirements:
- Rails 3 experience
- 5+ years working with Rails, MongoDB, REST APIs
- Experience with full Rails stack and mastery of those stack
technologies
Experience with any of the following would be a plus:
- HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (as .haml, .sass, .coffee)
- Agile/XP
- ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, Neo4j
- Varnish, HAProxy
- Heroku, Chef/Rackspace
- Debian, Mac OS X
- Objective-C
- Scala, Node.js
