Software Engineer

The incumbent Software Engineer (Intermediate) will perform technical
analysis, design, and development of Ruby on Rail applications. He or
she will work closely with a team of developers. Specific job
responsibilities include:
· Research and develop technical requirements.
· Design, develop, test, and implement applications.
· Coordinate with other team members.
· Interact professionally with clients and team members.
· Install, upgrade, configure, and maintain application
environments.
· Provide operations and inquiry support.
This opening is for a full-time regular position located in Washington,
DC.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (or an
equivalent combination of higher education, professional training, and
additional experience).
· 2 years of professional experience with Ruby on Rails.
· Professional experience with MySQL.
· Minimum of 6 years of verifiable information technology
experience as a programmer or comparable position.
· Strong written and oral and communication skills.
· Ability to communicate complex technical analysis to technical
and non-technical audiences.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
· Professional experience with Java and J2EE, Servlets, JSPs,
HTML.
· Experience with other relational databases such as Oracle.
· Experience with Struts, Hibernate, Spring, EJB, JavaScript,
CSS, XML, XHTML, PHP, Unix.
· Experience working on federal government information technology
projects.

Hi Charlie,
it will reflect well on the candidate if he/she has some background in
JRuby - we do use Jruby for some of our Ruby projects.
