I am looking for a good introduction how to interface with the
internet (TCP/IP + UDP) via ruby.

Does anyone knows of sources to examine or HowTos ?

The 1st ed. of Programming Ruby has some material on this, and the PDF
is free online[1] and also included as a .chm file with the One-Click
Installer for windows[2].

There are also some examples in the sample subdir of the ruby package.
