Can I find a text editor without using adminstrator previlege and
install it on the USB drive?

SciTE: Download Scintilla and SciTE

Just extract it where you want it to be and use it from there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I now installl Scite on the USB drive and it
works.

You could use NetBeans or RadRails, as well.
