Inspiring Web 2.0 Rails Sites?

Anybody know of any Rails-using web sites that really capture the
essence of the nebulous Web 2.Oh from which ideas, instruction, and
inspiration can be drawn?

BTW, what exactly IS Web 2.0?

Don’t. If you have an idea for a web application, then have a go at
it. The rubyonrails.org site has a list of Rails apps, if that’s what
you’re looking for.

A big fuss about nothing really. Some use it in its original context
of community driven web apps, but a lot of people like to see it as
an enhanced user experience in web apps through the use of Ajax and
providing RSS feeds and the likes.

From Wikipedia:

The term Web 2.0 refers to a second generation of services available
on the World Wide Web that lets people collaborate and share
information online. In contrast to the first generation, Web 2.0
gives users an experience closer to desktop applications than the
traditional static Web pages. Web 2.0 applications often use a
combination of techniques devised in the late 1990s, including public
web service APIs (dating from 1998), Ajax (1998), and web syndication
(1997). They often allow for mass publishing (web-based social
software). The concept may include blogs and wikis.

Always nice to see what ideas others have come up with. As creative as
one may be, one can’t think of everything, or seeing better ways of
doing things…

I haven’t created an account yet, but I’m wondering: What advantage does
this have over just using my normal browser as usual??
Thanks.

If you have your own computer, and don’t have to deal with the Chinese
or school’s censors; than none (it fact, it is a slower, degraded
browsing experience).

If you have to deal with censorship of your surfing, however, than
this allows you to bypass the censorship and access restricted
sources.

Also if you are surfing on someone else’s computer and you don’t want
them to see where you have been, then palary will mask it for you.

Peace, Scott
