Incorporating Google Maps into your app

Hey guys,

I have an idea for an app I want to build, but that app would need to be
able to communicate with Google maps or some ‘map’ system somehow. Is
that
possible?
one feature of the app would be to locate person x on a map with respect
to
every other person in a group made up of person a to z, and then find
the
person closest to person x.

I’m not at a level where I can start to even program such an app, but I
just want to know if it’s possible to do.

Thanks for the feedback!

Thats very much possible in every modern programming language. Here is a
blog post which tries to explain how to use Google Maps with Rails[1]
but there are dozens of guides online and many mapping services that
would allow to do it. If you dont know where to start and you want to do
a simple one-page application Id propose Sinatra[2] as web framework
over rails.
