Include a ruby library with rails app

Is there a way to include a ruby library with rails app? For example,
the http-access2 library and tell rails to use the one included with
your app?

If the library is packaged as a Gem you can use gemsonrails:

http://rubyforge.org/projects/gemsonrails/

You could probably also just copy the necessary files into lib,
maintaining the appropriate directory structure.
