Hudson appears to be stuck, again

Hi all,

I just wanted to get my fresh JRuby fix from
http://jruby.headius.com:8080/hudson/job/jruby-dist/ (I closely follow
the latest development, but my computer is too slow to continuously
rebuild JRuby myself) and I noticed that there are no build artifacts
for 1.5.0dev yet. The reason for that seems to be that there hasn’t
been a new build in over a week (i.e. 1.5 didn’t even exist then),
because the jruby-spec-java5 job has been building for 8.5 days(!) now
and is thus blocking all other jobs.

There was another almost 4 week outage between Aug 28 and Sep 22.

Is this somehow related to the move to EngineYard? Will there be
sub-second build times on EY’s awesome cloud infrastructure in the
future?

And will there be builds of the Windows installer or does that require
a Windows box?

Also, I noticed that http://dist.codehaus.org/jruby/current/ still
points to 1.3.0, but since the launch of the new JRuby.org website
that URI isn’t actually exposed anywhere, so it doesn’t really matter
that much. The JRuby.org download site has 1.3.1 and even 1.4.0RC1,
after all.

Thanks for the great work!

hey.

Headius will probably add more to this later but:

I believe the build machine is in Charles’s basement. And Charles is
currently in Hawaii. Not sure if he has remote access to the machine
to see what’s going on but I’m sure we’ll know something soon.

We need a better setup for the build machine, including a CI setup
that can nuke builds that go south. Most of the recent build problems
and stuckage have been because my home DSL has gotten really flaky;
when it fails to git update a repository, it can get stuck.

I’ll kick it and try to get things moving again either tonight or
tomorrow/thursday when I’m home, but anyone with admin access (tom,
nick, ola, maybe others) could boot the stuck build too.

So, CruiseControl.rb isn’t the only one with git hanging problems [1].
I think we’ve almost solved it, though
