I want to some home projects using Ruby. I was looking for some books or
ideas on the net for the same. Do you guys know any book names or
resources where I can get some home project ideas? If you have could you
please share.

I wouldn’t look for books to figure out some home projects, I’d look for
problems you want or need to solve. Whether it be writing a script to
automate or shorten some repetitive task, make backups, or fill out some
forms, the things you do that take up your time with no return make some
really excellent projects to do at home. You are the customer, you
decide what’s important to have in it. Unless it’s something you feel
some ownership of, there’s a high likelihood of abandoning the project
and not pushing through to get the actual learning. At some point in
every project’s lifecycle, there is a point that maximises utter
boredom, confusion, or frustration.
There might be some such books out there for home programming projects.
I’d be a bit surprised if they were written specifically for ruby, but
that shouldn’t actually matter.
Even so, the best home projects are the ones that fulfil a personal
need.
If you really don’t have any needs of your own or whatever, you could
always a) contribute to an existing project or b) find something that
exists
for other languages but not for Ruby.
Cheers,
Hal
