I am developing on a windows machine and using Instant Rails. I
installed git and it is available from the command prompt. However, I
can not seem to install any plugins from a git repository. It
executes
the commands, creates a folder, but there is nothing in it. Anyone
else having this issue?

Git on Windows is not that simple to get going unless you have Cygwin
installed. However, check-out this article and see if it helps to get
your base git stuff working outside of InstantRails.
If it does, then move onto to getting and putting stuff into the instant
rails folder. I used to use InstantRails but recently switched to
installing everything myself as individual components and hooking them
up. Personally it seems to work better and more reliably for me now.

MsysGit is working very good on Windows especially latest version. I
even do not have to use cygwin any more. I’m not using InstanRails but
git should not be dependent on that. What are you actually doing?
