Hi,

after reading about RubyConf and the two RailsConfs, I thought that it
might be time to start thinking about a (the) European Ruby Conference
again…

Just a thought. I certainly wouldn’t mind if it happens in Munich again,
but (as every year) wouldn’t mind a more Northern location as Hamburg or
Copenhagen either.

Happy rubying

very good idea, I would certainly attend! And talking about locations I
cast my vote for Munich. It’s nice and it’s near - at least near by my
home town

Let’s see how the Rails popularity boost affects the number of visitors
and good speakers this year…

Best regards

I’d like to cast my vote for Copenhagen – not too far from where I live

Make that Copenhagen for me too.

Further north would be my preference, too. How about Köln (Cologne)?
Has anyone organized a/the Ruby Conference in Europe previously?

If I am able to make over to Europe, Munich would get my vote: Family
in Kempten.

They’ve had good speakers before Rails popularity.

Actually, what I really liked about the one EuRuKo I managed to attend
was the small, informal size, and the wide range of topics. Having an
influx of people who only know RaR (Ruby as Rails) would certainly
change that.

up to now some guys from approximity organised it. The 1st one was in
Karlsruhe
in, 2003 (I think), the last one was in Munich in October (last year).

Well I have nothing against Copenhagen (it would even allow me to
visit Denmark!), but why not considering Brussels?

It’s more or less the center of Europe, perhaps the better place for
the target audience. The excellent FOSDEM 1 takes place there each
year and this is always a bit success, collecting lots of Europeans.

I vote for Copenhagen too; would increase my chances of being able to
attend. Also I saw the Copenhagen/Skåne RUG has quite a few members…

Is there currently anyone here that’s part of an organization
(approximity?) that is seriously planing on/already involved in
organizing this event, or are we all just stating our preferred
locations?

I guess the individual or organization that will organize it should
decide where it takes place. As long as nobody steps up and does it
the conf won’t happen anyway.

to keep this thread alive: +1 anywhere in Europe (preferably not
Germany) and before you start flaming me - I am German, I just like to
travel

I think at this point the only way to keep this thread alive is for
interested individuals to step forward and actually start planning.

I would be very willing to help out around Cologne or even within 1.5
hours around Utrecht…
