Discussion forum implementation

I was wondering if anyone with experience could give some advice on
choosing a discussion forum implementation. Has Beast or some other
Ruby implementation worked out well for anyone? Or is it simply easier
to set up one of the PHP-based discussion forums?

There’s ruby-forum, though I’ve never used it. Not sure if it’s even
rails based. Prebaked might be a good option.
