Create App Store and iPhone icon lookalikes with RMagick

#1

I’ve written a Ruby script that takes a 512x512 image and produces icons
that look very similar to the icons used on the App Store and the
iPhone. The script demonstrates how to use RMagick to add the “shine”,
the rounded corners, and the reflection under the App Store image.

I had planned to use the script as the basis of a tutorial on the
RMagick home page, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to have time to do
that for the foreseeable future. Instead, I’ve zipped up the script and
attached it to a Support Request track on RubyForge. If you’re
interested, go to
http://rubyforge.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=24366&group_id=12&atid=134l,
scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Download link for
shine.zip.

In lieu of a full-blown tutorial I’ve added comments to the script that
explain what it does. Please feel free to ask questions or post comments
here as follow-ups to this post, on the open-discussion forum at
RubyForge (http://rubyforge.org/forum/?group_id=12), or send them
directly to me at rmagick AT rubyforge DOT org.

Enjoy!

Very, very cool…

Thanks!
