CGRAN update, new projects, statistic keeping?

Hi all,

It’s been a while since I’ve sent out a CGRAN update, so I thought it
was
time for one. As of this e-mail, there are 169 registered CGRAN users,
and
28 projects. Thanks to everyone for contributing, and I hope it
continues
to grow!

Here are the 4 newest projects on our project list (
https://www.cgran.org/wiki/Projects):

GIT / SVN

I’ve noticed that 2 out of the last 4 projects have not used the
provided
SVN repository, and have used git hub instead. I am completely fine
with
this. My general model is that I want it to be as low of overhead for
you
to contribute your code/project so that others can use it. Just link to
your project, either way. What you could do is also make a snapshot
in
SVN so it’s always tied to CGRAN.

STATISTICS

Several code authors have asked me in the past if it would be possible
to
keep statistics of their project, like the number of downloads. From
this,
since last August, I’ve been tracking SVN checkouts and updates. I do
not
monitor IP addresses with any SVN or Trac usage. Here’s a sample of
what I
log:
[23/Aug/2010:09:14:23 -0400] - checkout-or-export /projects/gen2_rfid
r507
depth=infinity

So, if you have a project and want your statistics at any point, just
e-mail
me. I still think the right thing to do is to not monitor IP addresses
with
usage, unless it’s unanimously wanted to be able to determine a unique #
of
users rather than checkouts.
