Does anyone have any experiences with a Canadian-based hosting service?
From looking at BlueFur’s feature list it seemed like a good choice,
but before signing up I did some searching and found some recent bad
reviews.
Others that are supposed rails hosts barely even mention it.
Any opinions?
Thanks!
Is there any reason that you have a preference for a Canadian host?
I have a site on Site5 and it works well. It is a low traffic site, so
I have never had issues with low bandwidth, but for price and ease of
setup I would recommend it.
Hope that helps.
BTW you might as well take advantage of the high Canadian dollar by
buying from the states. Most prices haven’t been lowered up here in
relation to the high dollar value.

It’s not up to me. The company I’m doing the work for specifically
wants Canada.

Thanks. I’m a one-man show here, and having to care for a dedicated
server is one more task I don’t have room for. I need something
simple. I’m going to try BlueFur and see how it goes.
It’s not specifically Ruby on Rails host, but I have a dedicated
server with iWeb.ca that I’m running all my Rails websites off of, and
it works great. Plus, you can pay for it in USD, which makes it even
cheaper, given the current exchange rates.
I use the smallest dedicated hosting plan, which is plenty for a
normal Rails site.
yours,
sness.
