add:

  1. 32bit OS or 64bit
  2. As a static http server (backend is disk io)
or a reverse proxy (backend is another ether)

I’ve run nginx as a reverse proxy for videos at 380 megabits
continuously (380 in and 380 out). The limitation seems to be the OS
with interrupts or something past 380 megabit on the particular
hardware I’m using (core2duo), and the cpu usage is around 50% or so.

thx for your info.
and is the system 32bit ?
can irqbalance help the problem with interrupts ?

The system is 32 bit yes. I haven’t tried to tweak anything to get
above the 380 megabit barrier, as the hosting I’m paying for specifies
that I can only average 100 megabit. Given the traffic patterns I see,
I shouldn’t come anywhere near the 380 megabit barrier if I’m staying
within the amount of bandwidth I’m paying to use. I would be
interested to know though if anyone has experience getting past such
limits.

wait you said 380 mbit in the first post it sounded like but this one
you’re limited to 100mbit by your provider? i’m confused.

Does anybody else have a higher record beyond 380Mbit/s

I’m on a gigabit port, but the billing model my host uses is average
usage level. I’m allowed to average 100 megabits, which means I really
don’t need to push more than 200 or so at any given time, taking into
account peak versus off peak times. If I were peaking at 380 megabit
consistently I’d probably be averaging about 200 megabit, which is
double what I’m paying for. I hope that clears things up.
