I downloaded the zip file from the website, but I am not sure how to
install brakeman. could you please detail out the steps

Possibly Brakeman: Documentation will help. There is a
section on installation. I think you should not need to download
anything, just install it like any other gem.

As Colin said, just install as a gem:

Where did you get a zip file? From the GitHub page?
